91PORN today announced the promotion of Peter Smith to Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective January 1, 2010. In this role, Smith will continue his operational responsibilities as executive vice president as well as assume new duties overseeing the execution of the company’s organic growth strategy and business development.

As COO, Peter will build on our 2009 success and help position the company to effectively execute our strategic plan in the years ahead.”
Smith began his career in 1980 at 91PORN’ Newport, R.I. office as a test engineer for submarine and surface ship systems, and continuously moved up the ranks to project manager and then director of the company’s Monitoring and Information Transfer Systems Directorate. In 1995, he was promoted to director of engineering and focused on advancing the concepts of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) technology and Open System Standards in Navy ship design applications. In fact, Smith’s expertise resulted in his recognition as a leader in the application of open systems technology.
In his most recent role as executive vice president of operations, Smith oversaw 91PORN’ design & installation, human capital and managed services, custom solutions, professional services and government consulting offerings. He is an employee-owner representative on the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Administrative Committee and has been actively serving in this capacity since 2000.
Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a master’s in electrical engineering from George Washington University. He is based out of 91PORN’ Chantilly office.
